I need a 37 link track chain/rail.Friday I ordered one and payed for it only to recive a call today saying they were sold out.I called a backup supplier and they were sold out.I am trying to order just one side and wonder if they only want to sell pairs. One listing is still on the -bay site.I'm here in Ca. and have a few acres in the drought stricken mountians. My 450 has red paint under the yellow so I think it worked for the US Forest Service at one time.It seems to know how to handle trees when droped.
One quote was $1360 for chain, nuts and bolts shipping and tax.I started looking again tonight but it is after hours.I bought a chipper last week because trees are dying almost every day. I don't want to tear up my under carriage.Any ideas on suppliers?I'm half asleep hope this makes sense. Thanks Crankillya

Looking at 1988 cat 953

Found a 1988 cat 953 and tried it out. It's obviously older but seems to work well. Two things about it though. Seems sluggish moving until it warmed up and the red warning light intermediately flashes. All fluid levels are OK and after warming up runs well. Is the cold sluggishness normal. The light acts like it is just a possible short somewhere. Sorry if the post is vague, this will be my first big machine.

Does anyone know how to remove injection pump? I have everything loose....but the bar that runs through the side of the head and attaches to the fuel rail (not sure that's correct name). How do you disconnect it? I see no clip, pin, nothing on engine side. Not sure how to get to it inside pump.

The pivot shaft seal on the back side of the reservoir is leaking on both sides, once I topped off with 40w oil. Is it a big task to replace seals or should I just fill up with high end grease?

Does Torque on drain out 941 when changing oil in transmission?

We are draining the transmission & bevel gear compartment oils on our old 941 (80H2988) loader & replacing all filters, oils, & cleaning the screens etc. & I wanted to ask if there is a way to drain the torque converter completely as well while we are at it, or does it pretty well drain out into the transmission when we drop the oil in that compartment? By the looks of things, it has been a while since it was done, as the filters & screen were pretty well plugged up. The screen under the seat was all bulged out from being plugged........we have only owned the machine since last Oct.

We blocked her up a bit, to better gain access to the "tight quarters" under the machine.Name: Trans Oil.jpg

Was able to get the gears out with no problem. Chained it to the Farmall 756 and it pulled it easily. About ready to pull the radiator and support. Manual says to drain trans first. Is that necessary? Thanks for the help so far, I appreciate it.

Sludge in fuel tank

I have a Caterpillar 935c and it has gunk in the bottom of the fuel tank. I can't even seem to figure out how to take the tank off. It looks to me like the fuel tank is practically a part of the machine. And I don't want to take it off if I don't have to. Does anybody have any advice on how to get the gunk out or how to get the tank off.

Im having some issues with my bobcat starting, the panel will not stay on long enough for me to put password on. I hit the when I hit the "enter" button the panel will light up for a quick second, but then it turns off. I heard a clicking noise coming from the fuse panel under the seat, I sounds like its coming from the starter relay. I switched the relay with another one, but still no luck. The battery tested good, I will be having the started test tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should look for? Thanks in advance for the help

Confirming the identification of Cat 941 or 951 Loader?

I have some undercarriage parts to get ordered for this machine that I have owned for a few month & there are some discrepancies in it's identification. The decals on the machine say 951 & the Ser # tag up on the RH frame tower facing the operator indicate a 941 (Ser 80H 2988) (BTW I posted about this when I first got the machine), so this morning I removed the counter weight to see if there was another tag on the frame under the counter weight......nothing there. I am wondering if more if the plate work for the hitch has to come off to reveal an ID plate under it? Perhaps the ID tags are not always located on the back of the machines?

Any other telltale methods to differentiate between the between the 941 & 951 machines?

935CII Trans filter cap seal and also torque converter cooling hose issues.

$

Hey Guys,
Just 2 quick questions please.
1993 935CII loader with power shift transmission 3 fwd. 3 rev.
Problem 1: Purchased aftermarket transmission filter cover seal “5K1770” (which the part number is printed on seal) this seal is ever so slightly larger in diam. than the groove in housing. When I installed the cover with new filter, the seal keep wanting to squeeze out, no matter how careful I was. And naturally it leaked so I took the cap off to find that the 5K1770 seal I had just installed was pinched and about 1 inch in length and 25% of diameter was disintegrated. I would install old seal but it appeared to have been very slightly pinched also. Though not nearly as bad as the one I just replaced.
Ordered another seal from OffRoadEqp, but my question is have anyone here experienced this?
Problem 2: Torque converter hose on left side leaking, hose is ordered, and one question I have is any suggestion on type of wrench to remove fitting on torque converter end of hose? Just took a glance last night when I sprayed PB Blaster on for a soak, but that is the hose on top of other hose where it goes into torque converter and I do not see much room.
Thank You
Johnny Walker

Cat parts price?

$

The oil pressure gauge on my 931B is leaking so I priced one out from Finning(Cat) and they want $88 for the gauge and $4 something for the rubber gasket that goes around it. This seems like ridiculous prices to me. The part number was changed and the new gauge looks kind of cheap compared to the original. I can get an aftermarket gauge for under $20. Thoughts?
