Comments/suggestions, Hydraulic lines

Hi guys, we all have had the issue of popping a aging hydraulic hose or rubbing thru a hydraulic tube, which do you all prefer, buying hose in bulk with assorted available reusable fittings or having a local shop build yours? I am starting to lean to the prior as I almost always need a hose or patch line on the most inopportune days.

Changing U/C parts on a 943

I have to change the rails , segments and idlers on my 943 , just looking for pointers in doing this. I plan to cut the segment bolts with a torch. If the master bolts break it won't matter the current rails are shot. Not sure how the new idlers will come , hoping all those bolts will come out. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cat part numbers and build data?

I am thinking about ordering some arm rests for my 931B off e-bay because the price seems pretty good, $65 for the pair and $35 to ship to Canada. I think it would cost a lot more to get them locally or have new ones made. I've seen 3 different part numbers for them and am wondering if they're all the same, 9C4136, 5G2621 and 6S4324? I have the flip over backhoe seat but I think the arm rests are standard as they mount on top of the tanks. My serial number is 25Y1916 if that matters. I was also wondering if the original build sheet for this machine can be brought up and indicate where it was originally sold?

963C flushing/draining hydrostat....help please

I have a 963c
2ds serial number

About a year ago a renter submerged it in a pond....to the cab!

After battling insurance etc....I've recently began the rebuild. Engine rebuilt, MANY parts replaced, but it's running good. Operates and tracks great.....but, My last problem:

There's water in the hystat, fluid is white. Hydraulic tank is fine, and clear. Hoses to all hyd cylinders (when opened) have good fluid draining out. But hystat dipstick is solid white when I pull it. How do you flush or drain hystat? I see no drain plug, or anyway to get the bad fluid out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Which CTL for my university tree breeding program?

Hello! This is my first post, but I have already gleaned a lot of great information from this forum as a reader. I hope to tap into the wealth of knowledge that you folks have to help me gather the information I need to decide on if a CTL is what I should be looking at for my needs, and if so, which ones to consider. I work as a research technician with a hazelnut breeding program at the land grant university here in Oregon. We plant out about 4000 seedling trees each year and have some 28,000 trees from 1 to 8 years old in the field at any one time. As the trees are evaluated and discarded, they have to be cut down and hauled out of plots where the trees are planted 3' apart in rows 10' apart. In the early stages, this is all done by hand. As the trees get older and more and more thinned out, we are able to mow the stump sprouts with a tractor and rotary mower, but we are still pulling brush by hand, stacking it in windrows, then pushing it to a burn pile with a front-end loader. So I am thinking that we look at using a CTL with a rotary mower or a mulcher head to 1)re-cut the stump sprouts each year and 2)chop the felled brush in the aisles between the rows of trees. The other particular job that we would use the CTL for is with a 45" tree spade, to move the elite seedlings from the seedling plot to a propagation plot. This will require a large CTL, something on the order of a 10,000+ pound machine. Besides the heavy lifting capability of a big machine, I foresee wanting high flow or enhanced high flow auxiliary hydraulics and the flexibility of EH controls for say, using a trencher to dig the furrow for planting nursery stock. Machines of interest to me, knowing what little I know at this point, include the Takeuchi TL250 or TL12, the Case TV380, or the Deere 333D or 333E. Cat, Kubota and Terex all make suitable machines, too. I have Cat, Deere and Case dealers all nearby for service. I am particularly curious if anyone can comment on the TV380; I see a lot of them for sale used and am wondering if that is because of their popularity or if they have problems. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!

Having some line boring done , questions.

The swing tower on my 416C has wear in base pin swing and the boom to tower as well as swing left and right. Does any one know an average cost to bore these and fit bushings? Around 2005 the D models were factory fitted with bushings. I have replaced some of the bushings about 2000 hrs ago and noticed then the bushing and pin had very little wear it was the ductile that was worn.

Hi everyone I have a 973 track loader that will not reverse on the right track motor a check by pressures I'm getting no pressure on the Rivese side I pulled out the axel and I can see the shaft turning when in forward and jotting when in reverse. The motors have been changed and transmission was removed to repair tranny mounts I opened the top cover replaced all lines and hoses in side the tranny and resealed the servo cylinders while the trans was out. Any help would be great. I also replaced the seals on the replenishing valve.

I have some undercarriage parts to get ordered for this machine that I have owned for a few month & there are some discrepancies in it's identification. The decals on the machine say 951 & the Ser # tag up on the RH frame tower facing the operator indicate a 941 (Ser 80H 2988) (BTW I posted about this when I first got the machine), so this morning I removed the counter weight to see if there was another tag on the frame under the counter weight......nothing there. I am wondering if more if the plate work for the hitch has to come off to reveal an ID plate under it? Perhaps the ID tags are not always located on the back of the machines?

Any other telltale methods to differentiate between the between the 941 & 951 machines?
