Trying to clear some land (a few acres) with a 455g. Having a hard time. Machine is a little small. Can someone give me best practices to clear with this loader? Most trees are less than 10" diameter.

What Machine to Grub Mesquite?
Hello all,
About to buy a skid steer/ctl? The main purpose of the machine is grubbing mesquite. Was interested in the case 1845c. Heard they were great machines. My concern is that 1, it's wheeled and 2, is may not have enough break out force. I want the most reliable machine possible. Would like to stay below $30k.
It looks like the Deere 329/333 have significantly higher break out than other models? Though those models are higher than $30k. Seems like that would be beneficial with the grubbing application.
Look forward to hearing your comments.
BTW, the property is reality flat ranch land, no rocks, minimal low land.

955L replacing the seals in track tensioner piston
I am wanting to know if you can remove the track tensioner piston without removing the tracks? Are there any tricks that I should be aware of before I begin my adventure.

problems with glow plugs breaking
i have been having trouble with glow plugs for a while now,they are blowing the centers stems out. i was using some i got of ebay and they wasnt lasting as long as i thought they should have. so i tried a different brand from offroad equipment when i made my last order and put the first one in it yesterday and it lasted about 20mins, so i put another in it and ran it about 1.5-2hrs and it has blowed again same hole. before it was just random which one would blow out,is there anything that could be making them have to much pressure on them or something and making them blow out or is it just crappy plugs? im leaning toward the crappy plugs.

CASE 850C - Hi Lo Range Selection doesnt engauge correctly
I purchased this CASE 850C about three months ago and never had to select the range from Hi to Low. I tried selecting it while the engine was running. When making the selection from HI to LO coming out of HI was no problem .. it was going into LO was like wanting to grind gears.. I got off of it quick ... So I tried bring it back into HI position and it too wanted to grind...
Decided to turn off the engine.... Then made a selection to LO... the shift would not lock into LO position... I then went back in to HI position ... once I did I started the engine and checked the unit for forward and reverse movement ... all was ok ...
What puzzles me is why it does not synchronize into HI or LO range with the engine running?

CAT 287b Overheating Issue
I've been having trouble with my 287b overheating after and hour or of running the forestry mulcher. I've seen this isn't uncommon with these attachments - mostly the response I've seen is to seek out a more efficient muclher etc. However given this is a CAT attachment you would expect the loader and attachment would be compatible in this sense.
I've had an issue with my Kubota out front mower overheating and this turned out to be a failed/faulty thermostat. Is there something similar with the 287b, before I change out the coolant is there anything else I should also be looking at which would be contributing to the machine not being able to maintain the cooling system at a sufficient level?

Towing 963
Need to move a 963 30 to 40 yards. Can I just pull the sun gears out then it will free wheel? Is so,is this much of a job, or will they just pull right out and then slide right back in?

Cat 953 Doesnt move SOMETIMES
I have a 1998 Cat 953 (2ZN02121)that runs great most of the time, but sometimes on start up it will not move in either direction. I can shut it down & leave it & come back later or the next day & it may or may not move. When it moves, it runs great like it was a new machine.When it doesnt move, I dont know what to do other than leave it alone. Any ideas?

963B with blowby 9000 hrs. Advise pls
I bought a state owned 963B that has a fair amount of blowby, the machine has approx 9000. I bought the machine for a pretty discounted price, knowing it had this issue. Any suggestions on what route to take on correcting this? Or run it until to much loss of power & oil consumption? It's a 3116 Cat motor of course, don't know past history.

955L 13x sprocket adjustment
Hi folks,it's been a while since I bothered the gurus with my dumb questions but that just means everything has been running pretty smoothly.BUT,my right roller frame got loose and then I noticed my final started leaking a little.Now I'm putting new bolts and all in the frame and I'm hoping to tighten the sprocket some and stop the leak but my manual doesn't tell me how to do it.Does anyone have a link to some directions? I know it's fairly simple but I like to have it figured out before I start.Thanks for any and all help.

Best places to look for track loader
After spending too much time on this forum we can't stop thinking about buying some heavy equipment for a 400 acre ranch in Central Texas. My neighbor says there's no question a track loader would be his first purchase (road maintenance, dam maintenance, clearing, etc) and so we've been looking for something like a 953/963/973 (budget up to maybe 50k). I've been a little surprised at how much supply I see of wheel loaders and not track loaders at guys like Ritchie Brothers (582 vs 22 in North America). We're pretty convinced, if money weren't a factor, track is the way to go for our use and the terrain (rocky, steep hills, and muddy in some areas) but was hoping to get thoughts on whether current good prices on something like wheel loaders (or even dozers or excavators) may make that a better first piece of equipment to buy.
Also, thoughts on where to look for a used track loader would be appreciated (right now we're monitoring RB, ironsearch, machinerytrader, and some others we stumbled on).

Detroit Diesel 2-71 Fuel Injectors
OK, I've got an about 1954/55 AC HD5 Loader, with DD 2-71. My question is, when researching documentation based on serial number of engine (2A20784) it seems to point to the correct injector as a HV6 fuel injector. But, when I removed one of the injectors it is a HV7. I'm replacing the injectors due to it not starting (but will with starting fluid) and I'm sure I let water build up, so my bad. Everything else seems to be OK now that I've replaced both filters and cleared the lines. I have access to 2 rebuilt HV6 injectors so I'd rather not buy rebuilt HV7 injectors if I don't have to. My basic question is can I use HV6, 5228310 injectors on this engine? I know the obvious answer seems like 'no', but I'd appreciate anyone's input on this old equipment question. Thanks.

Cat 953A question
In the process of changing the transmission oil on a 1989 cat 953 serial number 20z28xx. I purchased a Caterpillar filter for it and was curious if I could use any other brand oil than Caterpillar hydo oil in it? Only reason being is Cat dealer is an hour away, vs 5 mins to Orileys, Orshelins, Autozone, or Walmart.
