My tl150 won't shift into second gear when clicking the button. The light on the dash doesn't light up for it either. The dealers aren't quite sure why. One has said that it may require a new card for the dash instrument panel. Has anyone replaced that computer card they are talking about? Thanks

Best CTL? Need reviews on large frame Compact track loaders
Advice....Need largest CTL. what's the best on market for my buck.
Guys I need help and reviews on which compact track loader to buy. I have a bobcat t300 with 3300 hours and is getting to the point where I'm going to have to put some money into her to keep it going steady.*
I have run the Cat 299 and the takeuchi TL 12. Nice machines but the digging and breakout force aren't as strong as my bobcat. I'm very interested in any feedback on the bobcat T870, and the Kubota SVL90 or the new svl95-2. I love kubota mini excavator, but never run their CTL.* Anyone run the new Takeuchi TL12V2? Monster loader with 111hp. Any reviews would be great.
Also, if you bought a new machine, what did you pay and where in the country do you live? I'm very curious which machine gets the most bang for your buck? I think the kubota might be one of the cheapest for the most horsepower.*
Thanks guys.

1999 953C 2ZN drive pumps sound
Over the last week while pushing trees, I started noticing a sound difference between the two drive pumps when turning. When turning left the right pump will be louder then what the left one is when turning right. I don't recall hearing that much difference between the two prior to this job. Coming from a 953B the pump sound from inside the cab has been hard to get used to anyway, but I really like the C model.
I've not really noticed any difference in power between the two. When up against a big tree both tracks appear to spin at the same speed. The machine travels and pushes straight and it's not thrown any codes. Im just concerned about having one of the pumps puke, and would like to catch it before something happens.
The machine has 6125 hours and appears to have been taken care of. I've had it long enough to put around 250 hours on it. I've not cut any filters open yet to see it there is any metal inside. I've got to pull another fluid sample to send it in for a comparison. Should I be worried?

Blowby from Turbo or Comp Rings?
Before i try disconnecting the drain tube of my turbo on my bobcat skidsteer (turbo kubota engine), i wanted to describe symptoms.
Every cold start involves burning of oil in the exhaust for 20 seconds, then it burns off, includes symptoms of blowby.. Does this sound like turbo failure or compression rings? engine has 2400hrs
If there is more information needed, lmk. Is there a way I can measure blowby?

If this is not permitted mods delete it. I know of a 955L , 85J prefix that a local guy here in central ky has to sale. I know nothing about it but can look at it and get picks if someone is interested. Its maybe 2 miles from me. He said with "said " being from the owner , it has a 90% u/c and it runs out well. If someone has interest let me know and I'll check it out for you and get pics.

Cat 973 wont move
Hi all. It has been a while since I posted here. Anyway after much work need assistance on a problem I am having. I purchased a cat 973 s/n 86G
which was sold because it would not move. We have been troubleshooting and have now found out we are unable to get charge pump pressure to the brakes. We ran a line from charge pressure test point to the brake line directly and then the machine moves only in front. We have change filter, using SAE10. We took out the spool valves in the main control valve and cleaned, eventhough looked OK. Any ideas would be appreciated.

El 240B extremely hard starting. How can i fix this?
I have a El 240B excavator that every time I try to start it I have to crank for sometimes more than a minute. The use of ether just locks up the motor and wont allow it to start no matter how much you crank. The injectors have been changed once about 2500 hours ago. About one in every five time you try starting this machine you run out of battery before you get it to start so you have to stop and charge the batteries before you can continue. Once you start the machine though it runs like it was brand new and is one of the most powerful machines that we have it has even more power than our newer 322B. Another quirk it has is that when you do try to start it it will fire on the first couple of cranks but you have to keep cranking because immediatly after it fires it will fall on its face and you will be back to cranking. If you stop cranking once it fire and it dies you can start again and it will repeat the process all over again. What would cause this and what could I do to possibly fix this? The machine has around 22000 hours on it and the motor was rebuilt at around 15000 hours.

Help me save a 955k , having starting problems
Ok, i have a family friend who has a late 60s CAT 955K parked back in the woods. It has sat for 15 years, it was inside of a building but the building has now collapsed so i would say it has been outside in the open for 10 years.
The diesel is red in color and it has a full tank, am i able to run it?
Cleaned intake out, removed filter it was junk.
Added 10 gal of hydraulic fluid but needs 20 more
Put 2 gal of oil in it still needs 3 more but i want to make sure it will start and run for a minute
The antifreeze is nice and green when i pulled a plug of the side of the head, at the radiator filler cap it is just water
Was left in Neutral, ran great when it was parked, exhaust was covered, undercarriage is good.
But i dont want to do anything more until i can get it to turn over and start
I wired up two 12v 650CCA batteries to make it 24v, starter clicked, clicked, then turned over about 1/4 of a rotation. click, click, then 1/4 rotation.
so i stole 2 larger 1250 CCA batteries from mine and my dads truck, same thing. but then something buzzed and it stopped trying to start with the batteries in the battery bay, hooked the batteries up together then with jumper cables ran them straight to the starter ground and solenoid. turned the key, same thing. click click but this time no rotation. Engine is free and turns over by hand, i think i dont have enough juice. all the batteries i tried were hot and ready to go they even started the cars i took them out of when i put them back. Wtf do i need to do

Case 1150 can't tighten track
I am purchasing a case 1150 track loader from a friend. The machine is a 1972 model with only 300 hours on it.
The right side track is loose and we can't get the adjuster to take grease. We have taken the zerk and check valve out they are both clear. When we took the check valve out some grease came out. Some of it was solidified. When we took it out the adjuster moved in slightly. But it won't take any grease. The grease gun just locks down. Any tips or tricks on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Deere 655C - safety lever/machine travel malfunction
I've got a customer with a Deere 655C track loader. I'm not real familiar with these machines, this is only the 2nd one I've worked on much.
He was using it this afternoon and it came to a dead stop and the safety lever light lit up (like it does when the bar is down, in the parked position)
When I pulled the bar up to the run position the light goes out for about a split second then comes right back on. When it does this it won't let the machine travel. Boom still works fine fine but it doesn't even try to move. The lever switch is operating like it should and I even made a jumper wire to trick it and it still had the same problem.
Anyone know here to check next? I've checked all the fuses and connections I can see. The cab is up and all wiring at the travel pumps looks good. Any ideas?

Cat 931b engine removal
Hey guys!! My name is RYAN.
Quick introduction: I am new to this site, but not to wrenching. I have removed transmissions from CAT D-6 HI-STAT dozers, replaced worn out steer clutches on a non-HY-STAT D-5 dozers, removed / installed fuel injection pumps, replaced tracks, rollers & sprocket segments on several dozers / tractors. I am a professional automotive, diesel, equipment & heavy equipment mechanic with 18 years of viable experience. I like to repair old machinery for the very obvious upfront cost savings. I also like the completion of a huge project, too. I have a bunch of other machinery (bobcats & forklifts) that I can use to almost everything. I am not a guy that is afraid to spend money on repairing things correctly.
Scenario at hand: I bought a CAT 931B (with 4,000 hours) for $3,000 this past June (2015) from a guy that let it sit for way too long with an open vertical exhaust pipe. To say the very least, the engine was seized up due to rust that formed between piston number 3 & the cylinder liner. Cylinder number 4 was also rusted in place, but not nearly as badly. I went ahead & moved the very heavy DEAD loader to a shop & tore the engine down to the block to be able to inspect the bores for repair. Now that I have done all of that, I need to remove the engine block for cutting of the old / damaged liners from the block. BTW, I have already bought the engine rebuild kit (pistons, liners, bearings, gaskets, etc.) for the re-assembly of this engine once ready. So, that is where I feel 'stuck' because the bell-housing bolts are close to impossible to reach, even with the floor plates removed. So, I am stuck thinking that the transmission & the engine may have to be removed as one unit. Am I right?? I have a few other small doubts, but that is my huge hang up right now. Can anyone help me get this beast back to life?? Can you help me locate a repair service manual for this loader online somewhere??
Thank you (in advance) for the help, advice & guidance.

125c loader several issues
Hello im brand new to this forum and also a new owner of an old track loader its a 1985 international 125c and im having some issues they arent super serious yet but they could become so im afraid.
ISSUE #1: when under a fair load the tracks seem to lose alot of power it will not spin the tracks even in loose creek rock and will not pull itself over a 2ft tall spoil pile. It stalls out but the engine never even whimpers.
ISSUE #2: when turning right the loader turns almost instantly but left it lags alot and sometimes will hardly turn at all. The track just keeps driving which leads me to believe cluth disengagement problems but im not sure how the clutch system works.
ISSUE #3: the brakes dont work at all. the pedal takes almost no force to depress and never has any tension all the way to the floor.
ISSUE #4?: the loader seems a tad weak i would think it should have enough power to lift until the entire machine tips but when getting a scoop of material it will stall out before it breaks out or the rear end lifts and it seems to slow down when bucket is full of material

opinions on the Cat 933 track loader
After many years of going without a track loader, we are planning on buying a smaller (70 to 110 hp) unit for our farm. I've seen a lot of very positive comments here on the forum on some of the small Case units (455C and larger), but very little on the smaller Cat loaders, particularly the 933. Locally there is a nice low hour 1988 Case 455C and a low hour 1994 Cat 933, and I would much appreciate any comment folks would have on the Cat and any comparison info. Interestingly, these are priced very similarly. Many thanks.

SVL75 - Shattered Door Window
Dayum,
Using grapple to clear some cut mesquite brush and BAM, piece of mesquite shot up like it came out of a rifle and shattered the door in a million pieces. Certainly got my attention! New unit, just 35 hours.
I imagine it's not going to be cheap to replace the thing. Problem is what's going to keep it from happening again? I wonder if they offer an option with ballistic glass
