Drive motor seal leak

Hello, I'm new, not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but here goes. I have a 2001 ASV 30, 500 hours with light duty. When its parked and off, the right motor shaft seal (I think) leaks Hyd. fluid. It runs out of the cup-shaped thing under the drive sprocket. It will keep leaking till the tank is almost empty. I add fluid, start it up and once moving, it stops leaking. Someone said the pressure stops the leak. I can understand this, but how can the fluid drain from the tank though the pump, lines and valves when the thing is off??? If the seal needs to be replaced, can I do this myself? Thanks, Sarge.
