Looks like my manual has a 955K chain procedure and not an L. If I remember correctly, after cleaning up the spring piston sleeves I need to put something in the sprocket and back it up. The steel pipe should compress the spring so I can tighten up the nut on to the spring. Once compressed enough and tension has been placed back on the nut and spring can move.
Then compress the idler back in the piston allowing grease to come out, then it can be unbolted
